The Main Street Beat - October 2017

High Notes

Main Street has an exciting event coming up to kick off the holiday shopping season—our first ever Pop-Up Week! During the week following Thanksgiving, visitors and residents will see our downtown square come alive with temporary “pop-up shops” in vacant buildings. A pop-up shop is a temporary storefront where an entrepreneur can test out merchandise or services with little to no overhead cost. We are hoping to attract anyone who has an idea for a new business that they want to test out, or who may already have a successful business in another town and want to look at expanding and opening another location in Linden. To further incentivize participation in the event, we have partnered up with several other organizations and businesses to offer a special deal to the first pop-up shop to sign a permanent lease in the Main Street District after Pop-Up Week is over. They will receive 6 months free water, sewer, trash pick-up, and fiberoptic internet service, an energy audit from SWEPCO, a free one-year Chamber of Commerce membership with a ribbon-cutting, an in-depth business consultation with the Northeast Texas Small Business Development Center, and a free ad in the Cass County Sun! If you or someone you know is interested in opening a business in Linden, please check out the vendor application, available for pick-up at City Hall or download at www.lindenmainstreet.org. Completed applications can be emailed to lindenmainstreet@outlook.com or mailed to P. O. Box 419, Linden, TX, 75563.

The Linden Main Street Advisory Board meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 5:30 pm in the Garden Club building (300 E. Houston St). The meeting agenda is posted outside of City Hall the week of the meeting. All Linden Main Street meetings are open to the public. Stop by to check out what we’re working on!

Autumn is finally here! With the holiday season upon us, we are looking forward to all of the upcoming community events and will be adding some Main Street events to the calendar as well. And of course, when the holiday shopping season starts, remember to visit our downtown businesses and shop Linden!
